Closet Essentials and Basics for Your Classic Wardrobe

2 minute read, by Closet America, on Jun 22, 2022

When most people hear terms like “closet essentials” or “closet basics,” they think of clothing items that everyone should own. However, they mean something a little different to us at Closet America. To us, they refer to the most important storage solutions for these common items that everyone should have in their wardrobe. In other words, closet essentials are what every closet space should have at a bare minimum. Whether you want to create a more visually appealing inventory of all your clothes, shoes, and accessories or just want to get better organized so you don’t have to spend too much time looking for things, read on to find out what closet essentials your classic wardrobe might be lacking.

Long-hanging Sections

For pieces of your wardrobe that you want to take good care of and ensure that they’re free of wrinkles when you need them; long-hanging closet sections are essential. For women, they’re the perfect place to hang dresses. For men, they’re ideal for suits and pants.

Double-hang Section

A double-hang section basically splits a long-hanging section in two, so you have twice as much hanging space. This is one of the most convenient closet essentials because it allows you to hang different items that you frequently wear together in one place. Men can hang their dress shirts, jackets, and blazers above and dress pants (folded over a hanger) below. Women can hang dress shirts, blouses, and jackets above and their mini, pencil, A-line, and other kinds of short skirts below.

Shoe Shelves

Shoes are one of the more difficult things to store. Thankfully, there are closet basics that offer much better solutions than just stacking shoe boxes atop one another. Shoe shelves give you space to neatly store your shoes so they’re always easily accessible when you need them and allows you to show off your collection.

Cool Accessories

You might be surprised to find out that there are closet essentials for practically every kind of accessory – belts, ties, scarves, pocket squares, jewelry, and so many more!

Quality Hangers

When it comes to closet basics, few things are more essential than hangers. However, most people don’t put much thought into the hangers they buy and use. This is especially important to consider for the clothes that spend a long time hanging up between the time you wear them. This is because the wrong hanger can stretch them out or warp the fabric in other ways, over time.

Valet Rods

After you add valet rods to your closet, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them. Valet rods are one of the most useful closet essentials because they’re so versatile. Many people use them to hang up different garments to plan an outfit. However, they can also come in handy when you’re packing for a trip, doing some ironing, or need a place for something to dry to ensure it doesn’t wrinkle.

Bins & Baskets

Bins and baskets are must-have closet basics because they’re very useful and versatile and you can store whatever you want in them. You can easily find bins and baskets that match the design of your wardrobe as there are so many different options for colors, materials, sizes, and styles available.

In addition to these closet essentials, there are tons of other storage solutions that the organizational experts at Closet American can use to design and create your dream closet.
