Custom Closet Organization Tips for 2015

2 minute read, by Closet America, on Jan 8, 2015

The New Year often means new habits. Our clothes constantly changing and as the amount of clothes that we own grows proportionally with every shopping trip, we often struggle with how to properly organize our closet.

You surely got yourself some new items for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Your clothes have doubled and now finding space in your closet can really be a struggle.

First, get rid of the stuff you don’t need.

We know that this Is not easy. But, the change must come at some point and your old clothes need to go away. Making room in your closet not only helps you focus on your best wardrobe. It can be a life saver for the people who truly need it. In that manner, do not hesitate to donate your old clothes to some charity or people who truly need them. One thing is for sure – you will feel better.

Then, the thorough closet organization process can begin.

Let’s say you have all your items in your closet without any organization. Or you do organize the clothes, but every time you struggle to find your perfect outfit, and must take them all out of the closet to make your pick for the day/night.

What you really need to do is to start organizing them properly….but how?

Put your tops on the hangers. You will be able to see them and wear more of them. However, an exception might be your sweaters. For the best closet organization, sweaters and sweatshirts, should be folded, as their fabric tends to lose shape if it is hanged. You can organize the hanging and folding of your tops by color, thickness, or even material.

The jeans and pants are best organized with clips on the sides. These things give a uniform look to your pants and jeans and really save space.

Your accessories demand visibility. Closet organization with accessories is important as you need to have them properly stored so you can find them efficiently.  Your bags, scarves, hats and gloves need that visibility and easiness to pull them out when they are needed.

Regarding the underwear, it’s always best kept in drawers in your closet!  Also, you don’t want everyone coming to view your newly organized closet and perhaps seeing them, do you?

At last, your shoes should be stacked in some place with visibility.   What girl wouldn’t want to showcase off all of their beautiful shoes?  Shoes do take up a lot of space, so having proper organization for your shoe collection is extremely important! Shoes can be organized them by color and style, and having them somewhere where it is the easiest to pull them out before leaving is always best!
