Closet Organization – Beyond the Bedroom

2 minute read, by Closet America, on Mar 30, 2012

There are so many options for organizing a bedroom closet, whether walk in or reach in. Custom closet organization manufacturers offer almost endless possibilities to arrange and streamline your closet area. But why limit a beautifully organized storage space to the bedroom? For instance, consider your kitchen.  Have you ever spent more time than you’d like searching for a specific pot lid, a can of cream of mushroom soup, or grabbed a cereal box only to find there are three flakes left? Organizing your pantry and cabinets can save you time in the kitchen and make life easier. A Lazy Susan maximizes storage space while making it very easy to “spin and find” exactly what you need. Shelves can be used for items like small kitchen appliances, pots and pans, or a snack drawer – the kids can find just what they’re looking for. Clear storage containers with airtight lids are perfect for pasta, cereals, and other dry goods.  There are also many options for spice jar storage.

Take a look at your laundry area. Whether you have a dedicated laundry room, laundry closet on the second floor, or an area in your basement, many homeowners don’t consider the laundry area as a spot in need of organization. Shelving and slide out baskets allow you to stash detergent, fabric softener and other laundry items. Add a closet rod and you have the perfect place to hang items that can’t go in the dryer. A hamper lets you separate whites, brights, and darks, making it a snap to load the washing machine. If you have the space, a laundry room is the perfect spot to install shelving to store out-of-season clothes in clear lidded bins.

Is your garage a place of streamlined organization, or are you embarrassed to leave the garage door open for fear of your neighbors seeing what a mess it is?  There are many storage solutions that can spruce up a garage in no time. You can install a slat wall, which contains tongue-in-groove channels that hold hooks, baskets and accessories. Metal shelving attached to the wall can organize automotive gear, small gardening equipment, grass seed and lawn fertilizer, and other smaller items.

Take custom organization beyond the bedroom. Tackling one area at a time, you can organize your kitchen, laundry room and garage using some of the same ideas that you use to organize your clothing.

Closet America was able to work with my unique circumstances in order to give me the best use of my space.
